Our Fees Explained

Leeds Anaesthetic Services is a limited liability partnership which sets its own fees for anaesthetic procedures. We bill our patients according to the Voluntary Code of Practice for Billing Private Patients published by The Association of Anaesthetists of Great Britain & Ireland.

Some private medical insurance companies publish a similar schedule which determines the level of reimbursement offered to their customers for any given anaesthetic procedure (benefit maxima). The insurance companies do not determine the anaesthetic fee itself.

Some private medical insurance companies cover our fees entirely, but you are advised to check with your insurer if this is the case in advance of your procedure date. In the event that your insurer does not cover the full fee, you will be required to pay the difference, or "shortfall". Please see the below infographic.

Our fee calculator is designed to enable you to obtain an estimate of your anaesthetic fees. You will need to obtain the CCSD code (or codes) from your surgeon’s secretary. Enter the code in the box indicated (although you may be able to search with a description of the operation) and it will provide the name of the procedure and the LAS anaesthetic fee. It is important to note that the code(s) may sometimes change on the day of surgery; but your anaesthetic fee will always reflect the code(s) provided by your surgeon.

Sometimes more than one surgical procedure is involved, in which case your surgeon will give you two or more CCSD codes. Please contact us if this is the case and we will provide you with an estimate of our fees.

If you have any questions about the anaesthetic fee regarding your procedure, please contact us before your procedure date.
